The History of Top of the 80's

In the early 1900's members of the Hazleton Country Club enjoyed a view similar to the one you see now from this very building, which served as their clubhouse. Golfers rode donkeys down the winding trail to the golf course. For them, of course, the trip back up to the top of the narrow dirt trail ended at a place known for good conversation, pleasure and relaxation.

Today's patrons follow very different trails to reach us here at the Top of the 80's Restaurant. The location at the crossroads of routes 81 and 80 makes Top of the 80;s a perfect place to stop and enjoy the view while having a quiet lunch or dinner. As in th past, Top of the 80's is still a place for good conversation, pleasure and relaxation.

The breathtaking view you see from the dining room is in many ways the same as it was those many years ago. Immediately below sits the expansive green of the golf course for what is now called the Valley Country Club. From there spreads the Conygham Valley. In a distance, to the left, Sugarloaf Peak punctuates the skyline. In between are acres and acres of countryside, spreading some 4 miles to the horizon, where land meets the mountains. Scanning to the right, the view sees the patchwork of fields rolling off in a distance. One Could consider the view alone a feast in itself.

But there is still more to enjoy at Top of the 80's. Relax with your favorite beverage in our lounge. Begin your meal with a selection from our wine list as you decide on an appetizer. Take your time as you select your entrée. Choose from our fine selections, including fresh seafood, thick juicy steaks and excellent pasta dishes. We price ourselves in the careful preparation of each and every selection on our menu to ensure your dinging pleasure.
